Sauerkraut and turnips is, albeit an exercise by *Maidith's own definition, in fact an incredible piece, showcasing stellar technique and ultimately profound comprehension of the subject matter on so many levels.

(... that's what I see when I look at it, after staring at and drawing this hand for at least 50 hours X_X)
This is my first finished cast drawing done at Angel Academy of Art, Florence.
It's not "art" per se, but an exercise in drawing; and the point of this exercise was to copy the plaster cast of a hand as closely as possible in order to learn how to see. And the better an artist can see, the easier it will be for them to interpret (not copy) a subject later, in their very own manner and style; and that's what I'm aiming for.
Medium: Nitram charcoal in B, HB and H; on Umbria paper. Also: Kneaded eraser, stomps and soft brushes.
A closeup scan at 300dpi: [link]
Especially the background was a real pain in the rear end! X_X
Thanks for looking ;D
