This is the first part of a big skintone painting tutorial I did last year. (it just wasn't until now that I found the time to assemble everything and finish it)
Please note that this is just "my" way to learn/paint/observe, and I can't guarantee that it'll make things "click" for everybody; I'm not a teacher after all and still have SO much to learn!
However, I'll be glad if it is helpful to anybody; and if you have questions, just let me know and I'll try my best to answer them.
The whole tutorial is going to consist of about 3 to 4 parts, depending how much text and images I can squeeze into one file without making it too heavy. XD
Since I'm a firm believer in learning-by-doing, I've come up with a practical exercise in each of these tutorial parts. To learn how to paint, there's no other way than actually doing it.
By the way, I put this in the "Photoshop" category since I used Photoshop here (with a Wacom Intuos tablet), but ANY painting program (Gimp, Painter, SAI, Opencanvas) can be used; since this isn't a software-specific tutorial - it's just about painting skintones!
Have fun, and thank you for reading!
